Basically I am a IT person. Playing Piano, Guitar and Vocal are my hobbies. I love to explore new technology.

- How long have you been playing guitar and how has the journey been so far?

It’s been almost 7 Years I am playing Piano and since from last 3 years I am playing Guitar. Music is my Passion, I live music every second of my life. My journey till now was amazing. I have performed many shows individually and with my group, won much competition. Over all I can say Journey was good with Ups & Downs.

- Tell us something about your blog and how it can help guitar players?

Recently I have started my blog which is very useful for guys who want to learn guitar. My blog contains English/Hindi Guitar chords, Guitar Tabs, Guitar Theory, Guitar tips & tricks & My Covers. I cover all those things which are very useful for fresher Guitar players and Experienced Guitar Players.

- If you were to give a beginner guitar player just three tips for playing guitar better, what would they be?

In my opinion, I would like to say only one Tip for all. “Feel Music, Play Music”.

- What is the single most important reason according to you that causes a beginner guitar player to quit early and how to overcome it?

I think strings based instruments need special attention to learn. You have to put maximum efforts if you want to learn any instrument. Beginners should give time to learn guitar, not from brain but from heart. Don’t learn it as a daily work, otherwise you never understand what the music is. Dedication is must to learn any instrument.

- What is the best way of learning guitar according to you – hiring a guitar tutor, reading books/ebooks or learning from online video courses?

- I generally get this question a lot of times. What’s your take on this question – How long will it take to learn guitar perfectly?

PERFECTLY ????? I am playing it from last 3 years and I can’t say that I am perfect in Guitar. I explore new things daily. I would like to say there are only 6 strings in Guitar (E, A, D, G, B, E) and these 6 strings are world. Explore the world and enjoy !!!! Also if you taking music as HOME WORK, it never ends. But if you take it as Hobby, you never gonna leave it.

Main Parts of an Acoustic Guitar :

1. Head – (or the “headstock”) is the uppermost part of the acoustic guitar.

2. Tuning pegs/ keys – They are used for tuning the strings. They are turned either left or right to adjust the pitch of a guitar strings.

3. Fretboard - The fretboard is the front part of the guitar, it is also called “fingerboard”. They are commonly made of rosewood. On it there are a number of metal frets, usually 20 to 24.

4. Frets - The small piece that divides the fingerboard is called frets. The fret holds the strings in different lengths so that when you press it and strum the strings, different pitches are produced.

5. Nut – All strings pass through the nut at the end of the fretboard. It roughly divides the fretboard and headstock. Its function is to maintain proper string spacing and provide an endpoint for the string.

6. Position Markers – Position markers are the small white dots you see on the fingerboard that help guide the guitar players. They are placed on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 17th, 19th and so on frets.

7. Neck – The neck of a guitar extends from the body. It is the long part of the guitar you place your fingers on as you play it.

8. Strings – Do I really need to tell about this??? For those who need, strings are the steel or nylon wires attached between the tuning keys and bridge!!!

9. Body – Now this is the most important part as whatever sound we hear is produced in the body of the guitar. It is the “hollowed” part of the guitar. In it there are soundhole, pick guard, saddle and bridge present. The body is the part of the guitar you place on your knee as you play it.

10. Sound Hole – It is the part of the body which helps in projecting sounds. There are generally two types of sound holes present for acoustic guitars. One is the circular type in which the hole is in circular shape, as you can see in the image above. Another is the f-type in which the hole is in f shape. Sound hole is absent in the electric guitars.

11. Pick Gaurd – It is a protective material cover near the sound hole which serves to protect the body from scartches while strumming.

12. Bridge – It acts as an anchor for strings. Its also helps keeping the string in correct position.

Type #1 – Vibration (Piezo)

If you need to tune your guitar is a noisy place the vibration type guitar tuner is the way to go. These are especially helpful when you are on stage, performing in a noisy environment. These types of tuners are clipped directly onto the guitar. They pick up the vibration of the tone played by the guitar and tell if the string is in tune. Most of them don’t have microphone to detect tone. They come in different variety by basically work on the same principle of detection of vibration.

These tuners cover a broad spectrum of available products and they come in a variety of designs and shapes. You can buy cheap tuners with less features or if you are willing, you can pay more for to get more advanced and new features. There are always new styles and designs coming out a lot of new features. These range from very cheap tuners to very pricey ones.

Type #2 – Strobe (Stroboscopic)

The strobe tuner is a very old type of tuner and it has been in market since 1936. But don’t get confused, it is the most accurate type of tuner available. This type of acoustic guitar tuner compares the note played with a reference frequency. If there is a frequency difference the disc inside the tuner rotates. On the other hand when the frequency of the note is same as the tuner, the disc remains still. What this means is that the accuracy of the tuner is as good as the internal frequency, which should be spot on.

Now a days these type of tuners have LED display instead of the disc but they are as accurate as always were. These guitar tuners are used by plugging the instrument into the device. They can be somewhat pricey but remain accurate for a long period of time.

Type #3 – Microphone

When people think of tuners, what they probably think of is microphone style tuners. These are the tuners that you play at and it picks up the tone. They completely rely on the sound of the string played and not the vibrations. These can be freestanding, clip-on, pedal style or other new types of tuners.

The only thing to remember is that with these types of tuners you will want to make sure the area around you is fairly quiet. Any surrounding noise can distract the readings so you should make sure that you don’t have any surrounding noises.

You will have the most choices when it comes to selecting a microphone acoustic guitar tuner. These contain an internal mic that senses the sound. While these aren’t as accurate as its counterpart, you will have a greater choice in functionality and features and price range. The price range is wide so you can find one that fits your needs and pocket as well!

Now you don’t have to worry about choosing a guitar tuner to suit your needs. Just think of three things: affordable reliability (vibration type), accuracy (strobe type tuner) or options (microphone type). No matter what tuner you pick, make sure you get the tune you need when and where you need it.

1. When tuning your guitar using an online guitar tuner, make sure the volume of the guitar tuner and tune played by the tuner have same volume. It will help you to easily tune your guitar and with greater accuracy.
2. Always tune up. This means that when you need to tune a string to a desired note, gradually tighten the string to reach to the note and not loosen it.
3. Always tune from thinnest string to the thickest string. And repeat the process at least twice to make sure the tuning is perfect.
4. Always keep your guitar tuned before playing. It does not take more than a minute or two to do it.
5. Don’t keep your guitar in moist or high temperature places as this may lead to permanent bending of your guitar’s neck which will make it harder for you to tune it. Keep your guitar in case whenever possible.
6. Always un-tune your guitar when you’re not playing it for a long duration of time as this may also lead to bending of guitar’s neck.
7. Use only piezo-type guitar tuners when tuning in noisy places to make sure you can tune your guitar.
8. To test if you have tuned the guitar perfectly, play a chord that you are familiar and listen if it sounds perfect. If it doesn’t, tune the guitar again.
